Holistic fitness for a full life.
Physical exercise is just part of the picture. How you fuel your body before you work out and how you care for it afterwards are just as important. We believe in a total mind and body approach to wellness, where everything in your life works together.
Physiotherapy
Resilience is key to reaching your goals. Our physiotherapists are here to help your body recover from injury. But they can also help you reduce the likelihood of further fatigue or injury caused by incorrect form. Regular physiotherapy helps maintain your ability to function at your best.
You can find out more about our physiotherapist Meena Malhotra and book an appointment with her by contacting 0210528532.
Also on site is physiotherapist Patrick Peng and his team from Physio Impact. Experienced, passionate and knowledgeable, Pat and his team are ready to help. You can find out more at www.physioimpact.co.nz.
Massage Therapy
Recovery comes in many ways and massage is key amongst these. Our massage therapist Penny is qualified and experienced, and is also a keen CrossFitter herself, so knows all too well how battered your body can get when you are pushing it to train at high intensity.
Penny Matkin-Hussey is a qualified sports and exercise scientist, sports massage therapist and nutrition and health coach. She specialises in soft tissue therapy with over eight years experience working within different sports and athletes. Penny’s experience includes working with the London Wasps professional rugby team, the Australian Women’s Football team – The Matilda’s, regional CrossFit athletes, Commonwealth Games Olympic weightlifters and with numerous competing athletes including runners, triathletes, rowers, and Olympic and power lifters.
Penny believes the benefits of massage therapy are not just for the sporting elite or even the active amateur; everyone needs to look after their body, ensuring it is in the best possible condition for everyday life, as well as their chosen sport.
Penny will be providing massage therapy on site as part of the Physio Impact team (see link above).
Nutrition
Fuelling your body isn’t just about performance. How you eat affects how you perform, how you feel and how you approach your entire day - every day. Taking your nutrition to the next level means getting great advice from experienced, knowledgable people.
Penny Matkin-Hussey
Our resident massage therapist, is also a qualified and registered nutritionist. She has an undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science, and is currently finishing her Masters in Human Nutrition with the University of Otago. Her thesis investigated the recovery of Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S), whereby athletes are under-fuelled for the demands of their sport, and the associated long-term health implications. She is now starting the first clinical trial for her PhD, investigating the use of continuous glucose monitors in the identification of RED-S (under-fuelling). She has a specialist interest in female athlete health and how to navigate and maximise performance, and health, throughout the female life cycle.
Penny has experience with all types of people. Whether it is to lose weight, feel better, fuelling to perform or returning from injury, Penny is passionate about helping others live and perform at their best, in and out of the gym.
To find out more you can contact her on pennymatkinhussey@gmail.com or 021 2811900.
